HELO TC

Discontinued

Why can't I connect my Helo TC

All versions of the Helo TC have been discontinued and will no longer work past iOS 7. The Helo TC app is not available for devices past the iPhone 5 and is not compatible with Android OS.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S II and the sled hits some of the phone's buttons.
Unfortunately, the way this Android phone is designed means that the sled may be pressure on either the volume button or power button. Our best advice is to be delicate with the amount of pressure the sled puts on the phone.

I have a Motorola phone and am having problems flying HELO TC.
You will need to make a simple adjustment in your phones settings. Under the device's Settings, select Sound and then turn OFF Media Audio Effects.

Why can't I slide the throttle all the way up?

When you first start using your Helo TC app, you'll notice that the throttle slider only seems to go about halfway up the "Lift Off" controls on the left of the HELO TC app. This is a limiter to help new pilots ease into controlling HELO TC without taking an unplanned flight to the wall or ceiling.

After you've logged enough flight time, you'll get an in-app option to turn off that limiter. If you feel that you're a bit ahead of the game and would like to turn off the limiter early, just tap the gear icon to go to HELO TC's settings and turn Expert Mode to "On". This will remove the limiter.

HELO TC isn't responding to the app! (iOS)

Here are a few troubleshooting steps to try.

First off, check the batteries in the Flight Deck. Make sure that the + and - ends of the battery match up with the red + and - indicators on the flight deck. Also, sometimes the battery contacts on the battery door can get flattened out and result in a poor connection. Try bending those out slightly to maximize the contact between the battery and the Flight Deck.

The next thing to check is volume. Even if the volume on your phone is all the way up, there's still a chance you're not getting maximum volume output if you are using an iPhone. To find out, go to your iPhone's settings. Under settings, go to iPod and make sure that Volume Limit is set to Off. If it's not, select Volume Limit and slide the slider all the way to the right. This will make sure that your device is generating sufficient volume to send the signal to Flight Deck.

Once you've checked all of this, connect the Flight Deck in the manner indicated in the User Guide, and turn the volume up all the way in the HELO TC app. The IR light signals generated by the Flight Deck aren't visible to the naked eye, but can be seen by many digital cameras, such as the webcam on your computer. If you have a webcam, turn it on and take a look at the Flight Deck while HELO TC is open and the "Lift Off" slider is all the way up. If you see the lights flashing, that means that the Flight Deck is working.

If you don't see the lights flashing, or you don't have a webcam but HELO TC is still not working, please contact our Tech Support team for further assistance.

HELO TC isn't responding to the app! (Android)

Here are a few troubleshooting steps to try.

First, perform a restart of your device. Power your Android device completely off and remove the battery for 20 seconds, then power the device back on. This will ensure any apps running in the background that could cause a conflict are closed out.

Next, check the batteries in the Flight Deck. Make sure that the + and - ends of the battery match up with the red + and - indicators on the flight deck. Also, sometimes the battery contacts on the battery door can get flattened out and result in a poor connection. Try bending those out slightly to maximize the contact between the battery and the Flight Deck.

Before you connect the Flight Deck, make sure you've got the most up-to-date version of the Helo TC app, and check the settings inside the app to make sure you have the correct version of the HELO TC selected (HELO TC vs. HELO TC Assault). Next, make sure to put your phone into Airplane Mode to avoid any interruptions during your flight. It's also a good idea to remove any cases you may have on the device, as sometimes they can hinder the Flight Deck's plug from fitting into your audio jack snugly.

Once the Flight Deck is connected to your Android device and the HELO TC app is launched, make sure the volume on your device is turned all the way up. If your device has a setting for Volume Limit in the audio settings, make sure that the volume limit is set to off. If the volume is not all the way up, the Flight Deck may not receive the commands that the app is sending. Some Android devices also have an additional audio setting, so we can try this: Go to Settings> Media Audio Effects> Wired Stereo Devices and turn off "Enable Audio Effects". If your device has Dolby Effects, make sure this is turned off, as well.

If you have a webcam, turn it on and take a look at the Flight Deck while app is open and the "Lift Off" slider is all the way up. If you see the lights flashing, that means that the Flight Deck is working.

If you don't see the lights flashing, or you don't have a webcam but HELO TC is still not working, please contact our Support Team for further assistance.

Can I use HELO TC outside?

HELO TC uses an Infra Red (or IR) remote, and IR can be overpowered by direct sunlight. Using HELO TC outdoors may result in decreased operating range and loss of control. For best results, we recommend using HELO TC indoors, where interference from other light sources can be better controlled.

What happens if I get a call while I am using HELO TC?

HELO TC's Flight Deck uses audio from your iOS or Android device's headphone jack to receive commands from the HELO TC app. If you receive a phone call or text message while HELO TC is in flight, any audio passed through the headphone jack will cause an interruption in your control of HELO TC, likely resulting in a crash. For best results, we recommend putting your mobile device in Airplane Mode before using HELO TC.

Can I use rechargeable batteries?

Yes. HELO TC's Flight Deck can be used with any type of AAA batteries, including rechargeable batteries.

Why does the app recommend I put my device into Airplane Mode?

HELO TC's Flight Deck uses audio from your iOS or Android device's headphone jack to receive commands from the HELO TC app. If you receive a phone call or text message while HELO TC is in flight, any audio passed through the headphone jack will cause an interruption in your control of HELO TC, likely resulting in a crash. For best results, we recommend putting your mobile device in Airplane Mode before using HELO TC.

The joystick isn't responding the way I expect it to.

Moving the joystick left or right doesn't move HELO TC in those directions. Instead, it rotates HELO TC left or right. Once the helicopter is pointing in the direction you want to go, move the joystick forward or backward to go in that direction.

I'm about to crash! How do I kill the power immediately?

A quick swipe down on the throttle will quickly kill power to HELO TC.

Can I fly HELO TC with a friend who also owns a HELO TC?

Yes, up to three HELO TCs can be flown in the same area at the same time. Each HELO TC needs to be set a different channel, which can be adjusted in the Settings menu of the app.

My mobile device is making a high pitched beeping noise? What's going on?

HELO TC is controlled by sending audio signals to the Flight Deck through the headphone jack. If you're hearing that beeping sound, then it probably means that the Flight Deck isn't plugged securely into your device. Be sure the Flight Deck is plugged in securely, and the beeping sound should go away.

When should I remove the batteries from my device?

The batteries should be removed as soon as they are worn out. Failure to do so can lead to battery leakage, which can cause permanent damage. This issue can also come up if a battery is unused for an extended period of time, so be sure to remove the batteries if you know the device will be unused for a month or more.

How can I tell if my HELO TC is fully charged?

When you plug HELO TC's charging cable into your computer or a compatible USB charger, a red LED will illuminate on the USB plug of the charger. Once HELO TC is fully charged, the red LED will turn off. If the red LED does not come on when you plug it in to charge, HELO TC is already fully charged.

I'm unable to fly my Helo TC with my HTC phone. What should I do?

Some HTC phones have a unique audio feature called BoomSound in the phone's Settings. BoomSound must be turned OFF in order to fly HELO TC.

Are the HELO TC and HELO TC Assault compatible with Android Lollipop (5.0) and above?

Unfortunately, the HELO TC and HELO TC Assault are not compatible with Android Lollipop (5.0). As both of these products have been discontinued for some time now, no updates to the HELO app are currently planned.
