Does this work with the 3rd generation iPod shuffle?

It will work, but we cannot claim compatibility because it's not as easy to set up as we'd like. You will need to:

  • Set the shuffle's playback volume via the Apple-supplied headphones (we recommend around 85%).
  • Unplug the headphones and plug in the DirectDeck's audio cable.
  • Toggle the shuffle's power switch to off, then back to on again to initiate audio playback.
  • Now that you have music playing on the shuffle, you can use the DirectDeck as you would with other iPods and audio devices.

I can't get the Direct Deck to work with my car stereo. Does it work in all vehicles?

There is no industry standard among car stereos and they all function a little differently.

Many times there is a special procedure to use when using a cassette adapter (rather than a conventional music cassette). On a Chevy Trailblazer, for example, you need to press the cassette button for 5-seconds while the radio is off. The word "ready" will appear and then you can install the cassette. If you don't do this, then the adapter will be ejected after 2 or 3 seconds of play or could make a lot of noise. Check your own owners manual for this option.
